As a responsible member of society the Werner Hahn attaches the utmost importance to conducting its affairs. With its privileged position, it promotes generosity and care values and is determined to give the community meaningfully and carefully.

Community

Werner Hahn understands that the talent and energy we have can contribute to the kind of society we all want to live in. We enable Payroll giving that encourages employees to make tax-free donations to charities directly from their salary. Our community volunteering policy gives employees ten days a year for volunteering. Individuals are free to choose the focus of their voluntary work whether it be environmental responsibility or charity fundraising.

Environment

We are reducing and minimising our impact on the environment. As well as establishing an environmental management system and KPIs, we are promoting environmental awareness amongst partners and staff.

Environmental Policy

Our ambitious plans to reduce our environmental impact are set out in our 2017-18 Carbon Footprint Report.  Our commitments go beyond what is required for compliance. Quite apart from any moral considerations, become more efficient and sustainable reduces costs and contributes to the exceptional client service we aspire to.

The first step has been to measure what we want to manage. This means that we now compile data that allows us to accurately track progress and produce quarterly Carbon reports. We regularly look at how technology, like Smart metering, can help. We work closely with our landlords to obtain more and better data on our impact. We have improved our reporting systems for expenses and travels, a substantial part of our environmental impact.

We achieved ISO14001 certification in 2010 and have retained it since.

We are taking a range of measures to reduce our impact. These include encouraging alternative forms of transport and accommodation and encouraging Video Conferencing to reduce travel in the first place.

We are demanding that our suppliers and contractors also innovate and reduce their impact on the environment. The use of more efficient LED lighting and of more sustainable, and recycled, stationary is two examples of improvements made.

Engaging our people and involving them in shaping our environmental programme is essential to achieving success. Contributing to the success of our environmental programme reflects our core value of personal responsibility. We expect all our partners and staff to promote an environmentally aware culture and help us to meet the targets we set to improve our environmental performance.
